Choosing the right chaise

Curved chaise sofas, corner chaise, double chaise sofas… There are so many luxurious options to choose from that finding the perfect one for your home can be tricky. But we’re here to help.

Read on to learn more about these comfortable seats and some of our frequently asked questions.

Materials and fabrics

All of our sofas with a chaise are handcrafted in Great Britain with only the best premium fabrics. We have a high-quality standard, so you can relax knowing that your purchase not only looks good but will last too.

Our sofa chaises are available in nine different materials:

Luxe velvet – Rich, soft, and expensive-feeling, our luxe velvet chaise sofas have a warm and inviting allure. Luxe velvet comes in a vast range of colours.

Bouclé – With its tightly looped yarns, bouclé has a nubby texture that’s contemporary and interesting. Our bouclé chaise sofas will make a trendy statement in any home.

Linen – Cool and sophisticated, linen is a popular choice for home décor schemes that prioritise natural elegance. It’s also light and airy, and so great for sunny homes.

Kobi – This subtle and hardwearing weave falls somewhere between linen and velvet. Super soft and durable, it’s the ideal choice for busy households.

Palermo – An alternative to velvet, palermo chenille is soft and makes you want to sink into a chaise. With a luxurious two-tone finish, it looks as good as it feels.

Mythica – Perfect for modern living, this durable fabric is practical but still super soft thanks to a slub weave. This is a popular choice for families.

Olympia – Often confused with linen due to its clean, natural look, Olympia has a subtle texture for clean lines and timeless furniture.

Luxe cord – Our most textured premium fabric, luxe cord has all the rich softness of luxe velvet with subtle ridges for added interest.

Fernando – This is a reliable choice for its durability and understated sophistication. Fernando is a strong fabric with a clean, tailored finish thanks to its subtle weave.

Colours

If you’re looking for something specific, you’ve come to the right place. We not only have a choice of nine premium fabrics, but they also come in a vast array of colour options. Whether you prefer an elegant cream chaise sofa, a contemporary grey chaise sofa, or something a little bolder, you’re sure to find your dream chaise here at OPA Living.

Please be aware that colour availability varies by fabric. Neutrals are available in all fabrics, but bold hues are saved for our luxe options.

Other elements to consider

Size – Here at OPA Living, we have all shapes and sizes in our collection. So, whether you’d like a small two-seater chaise sofa or a much more spacious five-seater chaise sofa, you should find your dream piece here on this website.

However, we always recommend you check the dimensions and measure your room, doorways, and hallways before placing an order – especially if purchasing a large chaise sofa. This will ensure a smooth delivery and avoid unfortunate returns.

Flexibility – Once your chaise is delivered and unpacked, will it be staying where it is, or would you like the flexibility to move or reshape it? If you require flexibility, consider a modular chaise sofa. These look great as stand-alone pieces of furniture or combined for a more intimate set-up.

Locations and shape – Our luxurious chaise sofas are extremely versatile, but some styles and shapes fit specific rooms and use-cases better. For example, think about the layout of the intended room and the other furniture and fittings that will accompany your plush new chaise. Do you need a right or left chaise sofa, or maybe a large corner chaise sofa would fit?

Maintenance – Regular maintenance will keep your chaise sofa looking its best for longer. So, make sure to keep it plump and clean. For emergency spills, discover our care kit.

Delivery and lead times

Lead and delivery times vary depending on the style, fabric, and colour you choose for your new chaise.

Chaise Sofas Frequently Asked Questions

What does ‘chaise’ mean?

The word ‘chaise’ directly translates to ‘chair’ in French. It is commonly used as a shortened term for a chaise sofa – a sofa with one end extending longer than the others into an armless seat - or chaise lounge – a daybed-like chair.

How do you pronounce ‘chaise’?

When spoken aloud, ‘chaise’ should sound like ‘shayz’.

What are the benefits of a chaise sofa?

There are many advantages of choosing a chaise sofa for your home. Here are just a few:

Comfort and style – Just like our sofas and armchairs, at OPA Living, all our chaises are handcrafted here in Great Britain with premium materials for the utmost comfort and style. However, a chaise has the added benefit of you being able to sit back and straighten your legs completely without the need for a footstool.

Space efficiency – A chaise can help maximise the seating in a room without overwhelming it. For example, if you place a chaise near a window, there’s no bulky backrest to block the light.

Versatility – The sculptural form of a chaise not only looks beautiful, but it can also be an adaptive option for rooms that aren’t completely square. Chaise sofas fit effortlessly into alcoves or under apex ceilings.

How do you style a chaise sofa?

OPA Living chaise sofas can hold their own. However, if you’d like to dress one, we’d recommend a draped throw and accent pillows placed on a deep-pile rug.

Do you sell your old display chaises at a discounted rate?

We are constantly changing our products at our two OPA Living showrooms in London and Yorkshire to ensure our latest and best stock is on display. That means we occasionally have a chaise sofa sale where ex-display furniture is available at reduced prices. Stock is limited, so keep an eye on the OPA Outlet to avoid missing out.
